Amsterdam Diamond

The Amsterdam DiamondThe Amsterdam Diamond is a black diamond weighing 33.74 carat, and has 145 facets. It is in a pear shape, and cut from a 55.85 carats chunk of rough. The stone is cut in a pear shape, with horizontally split main facets on the crown.

The very rare black Amsterdam diamond weighs 33.74 carat. It was cut from a 55.85 carat piece of rough found in South Africa. Its owner D. Drukker made it publicly exhibited in European Diamond Council to commemorate the 700th anniversary of the establishment of the City of Amsterdam in Holland.

It was sold in 2001 for $ 352,000, the highest price paid for a black diamond at auction (at the time).
